Beyond Batteries: Why We Sponsored the DUT Dongguan Alumni Football Team

We recently signed on as an official sponsor of the Dalian University of Technology (DUT) Dongguan Alumni Football Team, and we watched them hit the pitch for the first time at the inaugural New Year Cup tournament. It was a great day out, and we wanted to share a little about why this sponsorship mattered to us — beyond just getting our logo on a jersey.

A Day on the Pitch, Full of Alumni Spirit

The tournament brought together DUT alumni teams from across the Greater Bay Area, equal parts friendly competition and off-field catch-ups about old campus stories. If you’ve ever been to an alumni sports event, you know exactly the vibe: fierce rivalry on the grass, loud laughter on the sidelines.

What stood out most was the range of people on the team. There were recent graduates just starting their careers in Dongguan, and senior alumni who’ve been rooted in the city for 30+ years — all lacing up cleats and running the full 90 minutes with the same energy. No one was there just to make up the numbers; everyone showed up to compete, and everyone had each other’s backs.
